It's "Good Friday" / Easter Day soon.
Just popping this few qus in mind.
Why do we/I celebrate this day?
What so good about it that we call it Good Friday?
Yes i know about easter some funny wried looking bunny going around giving people eggs.
Sharing the the gift of joy.
But what about Good friday?
Coz Jesus dead on that day?
So where did the tradition of Good Friday start? Well, for the first three centuries Christians did not celebrate the death of Christ on Friday. In fact, they did not even celebrate the resurrection on Sunday. They celebrated the day of the resurrection based on the Jewish Passover, thus resurrection day would fall on different days, depending on the day of the Passover.
It wasn’t until the Emperor Constantine fixed the day of Easter on Sunday after the first full moon of spring, which corresponded to the Jewish Passover. After setting Easter on Sunday, the church leaders made an honest mistake by assuming the death of Christ was on Friday. They came to that conclusion based on the fact that Jesus died before the Sabbath (Saturday was the regular "Sabbath" for the Jews which means "Rest" or no work). Mark 15:42 confirms that Jesus died the day prior to the Sabbath: It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath).
We say we follow was God want us to do but how many out there really know the true and can take the true??
If we dun even know the real meaning of that day why celebrate??
The only good about that day is could it's a Friday and its HOILDAY!!!
So was really looking at how my own church celebrate that day.
I was once like them happly enjoying that day going church.
And been teach that jesus die on that day he save us.
He love us.
Then we have to go throught watch passion of the christ again.
Seeing how Jesus was wiped.
The blood the pain.
Making ppl fear.
And we are alway been told by our pastor.
Do it for GOD not for us.
But how many hearts can do that?
Act's speak louder then words.
I may sound like some anti-chirst dude.
But if this post hurts you.
Then I think you should re-ask yourself is what I'm saying true?
Shalom, YHWH bless.
